Attained by 9to5Mac, the CADs show separate physical volume buttons will be retained and sit below a new, solid-state Action button which will replace the mute switch. According to previous leaks, the Action button will be programmable and take over multiple functions, including restarting the phone.

Rumors that the mute switch would be removed have divided iPhone fans, with the switch a long-established part of muscle memory. But Apple laid the groundwork here with the Apple Watch Ultra, and the Action button should increase functionality, durability and water resistance.

In addition, 9to5Mac’s new CADs shoot down earlier claims that the iPhone 15 Pro Max would have a much larger rear camera hump. Instead, the CADs show a fractionally bigger bump than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. That’s an impressive feat, given the iPhone 15 Pro Max will include Apple’s first periscope lens, delivering at least 5x optical zoom.

The CADs also corroborate multiple other iPhone 15 leaks over recent months. They show the record-breakingly thin bezels tipped for new iPhone 15 Pro models (top image), an overall design that is more curved than the hard edges Apple has used in recent years, and USB-C, which will come to every iPhone 15 model this year.
